Adotec - Bear Alert Weight Activated Bear Horn

The next evolution in bear safety is here! The bear alert is the best way to actively protect your food from bears in the backcountry. The Bear Alert is a weight-activated air horn that will go off when an animal pulls on your food. The device will alert you and deter the animal.

Features:

• Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer Construction: 3D-printed using high-grade CFRP, the housing is incredibly lightweight for the backcountry but boasts an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio.
• Precision Triggering: Engineered to ignore the swaying of the wind but react to the downward force of a predator. Trigger will activate at 50 lbs or more of downward force.
• Compatibility: Designed to be used with the 1.5 oz/42g/35ml canisters from Kodiak or Frontiersman. *Air canister not included* 
• Reusable & Reliable: No electronics to fail, no batteries to charge. As long as there is air in the canister, you have a sentry on duty
• Flexibility: Can be used in a traditional bear hang or with a bear resistant bag around a tree trunk.

Compatibility notes:

• The Bear Alert mechanism requires a specific bag strength threshold to activate the air horn. Standard backpacking bags (ie. 1.4 DCF, Nylon, Expac, etc.) will fail or rip before the alarm triggers.
• Cordage used to secure a traditional food hang must have minimum tensile strength of 600 lbs.  Any carabiners used must also be rated for this weight (for food hanging applications).  For bags that are secured to tree trunks (ie. Grizzly Bear Bag), we have a pre-made adaptor sling that will be included in the kit. The sling has a tensile strength of 2500 lbs.
