Packrafts allow us to access lakes and rivers where traditional watercraft simply can't go. And there are not many more inaccessible places for traditional watercraft than high mountain lakes and desert slot canyons. High mountain lakes provide solitude and outstanding fishing that seems to always be just beyond the reach of your cast from shore. Desert slot canyons provide high adventure, spectacular beauty, and sometimes frigid stretches of water. For these places, you need a packraft that is light and compact enough to not get left behind when cutting weight in the final stages of packing, but durable enough to hold up in tight slots and rocky shorelines.

At just 3.6lbs, the fourth generation Scout is the most comfortable and competent mountain lake and canyoneering packraft we have ever built. The hull shape is derived from the Classic, which provides substantially better tracking and paddling performance than previous generation Scout models. It also has additional legroom and is comfortable for paddlers up to 6’2”. The Scout features our lightweight 210d nylon tube fabric and 420d floor, but can be built with the same fabrics as our standard packrafts through the Custom Lab. The Scout is also an excellent option for kids, summer trips to the local lake, and easy flatwater floats on the local river. We recommend the Refuge for extended backcountry trips with more paddling.

***Max Capacity is the maximum total weight (paddlers and cargo) that the boat can reasonably carry in flatwater under ideal conditions. Actual capacity for any given trip will vary widely based on the paddler’s skill and water conditions. Please review our weight carrying capacity guide for further details.
